“You’re so good,” they told her.
“A perfect example of goodness and grace—
A role model people can look up to.”
And with this message, she staked her flag,
Mapped out the house, drew the borders,
Carved out the earth, laid the foundation,
And built the home—
One false brick after the other,
Each fashioned through willful labor and toil;
Each infused with doubt and pain—
A beautiful home.
Cedar beams outline the solid walls,
Mirthful colors paint the landscape;
Sturdy, strong, unshakable—good.
Every day it falls to the ground. And every day she builds it again.
Selfless, beautiful, kind—the ideal woman.
She’s spent hours reading on wisdom and truth;
Days learning about love; and years saving herself,
Preparing for her life.
She knows exactly what she’s doing;
Knows exactly where she’s going.
She will never stumble; she will never fall.
She is the ideal woman.
Flawless, without mark.
Everyone applauds her, everyone admires her.
How could they know?
Every day her home crumbles, falls, and every day she rebuilds it again.
